Stone Ridge man charged in pipe assault

SAUGERTIES – A Stone Ridge man has been charged with felony assault for allegedly beating a man in the face with a metal pipe.
The 28-year-old victim was found by Saugerties Police at 11:47 a.m. on New Year’s Day on the ground at 215 Main Street in the village bleeding from the face.         
A witness told police the victim, who was armed with a hammer, had been assaulted by two men, one of whom used the pipe to hit him. Following investigation, which is ongoing, Aaron Brown, 19, of Stone Ridge, was arrested.
The victim was treated at the scene and airlifted to Albany Medical Center with fractured facial bones and contusions to his chest and face.
