Transient charged with randomly burglarizing Hopewell Junction home

HOPEWELL JUNCTION – East Fishkill Town Police charged a man who was driving through the area from Massachusetts with randomly stopping to break into a home on Beekman Road in Hopewell Junction.
Christopher Videtto, 47, with no address given, was arrested late Tuesday afternoon at the Taconic State Parkway and I-84.
Police were called to a residence on Beekman Road around 4:30 p.m. on December 26 after a woman came home to find him running out while carrying property. He fled in a car toward the Taconic.  Within minutes, officers located and stopped him. Several items belonging to the victim were recovered.
Videtto was charged with burglary and grand larceny, both as felonies, as well as misdemeanor criminal mischief.  He was sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $150,000 cash bail or $300,000 bond.
