TOWN OF MONTGOMERY – A
motorist was killed when he rounded a curved on Route 17K in the Town
of Montgomery Tuesday morning and struck an oncoming vehicle.

The man, whose name State Police did not immediately release, said Crawford
Town Police attempted to pull him over for a vehicle and traffic violation.
He failed to comply and fled into Montgomery where the driver appeared
to lose control while rounding a curve, entered into the opposite lane
of traffic and struck an oncoming vehicle.

The operator of the suspect vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other vehicle was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center
with injuries to his neck and legs.

The Crawford Town officer was not involved in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing and State Police are asking anyone with information
to contact the Montgomery barracks at 845-457-1388.
