POUGHKEEPSIE – Once upon a time, Poughkeepsie was known as the Queen City. Those glory days are long gone, but the city is making a comeback with riverfront redevelopment and other new projects.
In an effort to shine a bright light on the new accomplishments, Poughkeepsie is in the early stages of developing a marketing strategy.
To that end, the city developed a short survey and is asking residents to take it.
Mayor Robert Rolison’s goal is to create the plan with public input and that of a marketing firm to get the word out about what the city has to offer.
“That would be our expectation to use this as a way to tell others about this great Poughkeepsie story, which we are very proud of; we don’t want to keep this great story a secret,” Rolison said.
The Dutchess County Industrial Development Agency appropriated $30,000 toward Poughkeepsie’s rebranding effort.
