TOWN OF WAWAYANDA – On November 22, 2017, Deputy Sheriffs assigned to an Orange County Stop DWI Patrol, received an Emergency 911 call for a 22-year-old unresponsive male on Interstate 84 in the Town of Wawayanda.
Deputies responded in just over two minutes and observed the caller kneeling by him performing CPR. The deputies immediately took over, recognized the signs of an opiate overdose and administered three doses of NARCAN, a temporary opiate blocker, while continuing C.P.R. and other lifesaving efforts. The victim, of Branchville, NJ, was revived and transported to the Orange Regional Medical Center.
Deputies were assisted on the scene by members of the New York State Police.
