Students say “… people are dying …” from climate change

NEW PALTZ – Members of the Climate Action Committee at SUNY New
Paltz expressed their concern for climate change on Monday, by laying
down in body bags outside the Humanities Building.
Student Nicholas Leone, president of the club, said “the goal of this demonstration is to show the community that people are dying from climate change each and every day.” He claims recent devastating storms that hit from Texas to Puerto Rico, Florida and the Virgin Islands, “aren’t as natural as we claim they are, and climate change is certainly intensifying these storms tremendously. This isn’t a future problem; this is a now problem.”
Students walking by the event were encouraged to sign a pledge sign indicating they were going to help stop climate change.
