Man beaten to death, two arrested for murder

POUGHKEEPSIE – One person
is dead in a home invasion at 48 Marshall Street in the City of Poughkeepsie
Monday morning and two suspects are under arrest.

Police responded to the address for a report of a man being tied up and
beaten. Officers found the as yet unidentified man bound in a first floor
apartment. He was dead.

A man leaving the residence was stopped and detained and another man fled
out the apartment window before police arrived.

The man who was detained, David Perry, 49, of Poughkeepsie, admitted that
he and the man who fled had attempted to rob the victim and during the
struggle that ensured, the victim died.

The suspect who fled out the window was identified as Daniel Barletta,
19, a resident of that 48 Marshal Street apartment. He was tracked down
in New York City and taken into custody by members of the Poughkeepsie
and New York police departments.

Both Perry and Barletta are being charged with murder.

During the investigation, Poughkeepsie Police were assisted by the Dutchess
County District Attorney’s Office, NYPD and the Dutchess County
Medical Examiner’s Office.
