Lois celebrates with her family

POUGHKEEPSIE – Democrat Robin Lois squeaked by incumbent Republican Dutchess County Comptroller James Coughlan on Tuesday.
This was a big win for the symbolism it carries in a Republican dominated county, Lois noted.
“I think it means a lot to the party as far as having a Democrat in a county-wide position, we haven’t had that in a while,” Lois said. “It’s one step closer to having a little bit more representative balance in this county, which we really need.”
Coughlan lost by a little over 400 votes. He is hoping that when absentee
ballots are counted, he will be victorious.
