Saugerties man charged with illegal gun possession

SAUGERTIES – Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a Saugerties man on two felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
On Thursday, November 2 at about 6 a.m., deputies and members of the US Department of Homeland Security executed a search warrant at the Saugerties home of Robert Morales. Investigators discovered two illegally possessed handguns with defaced serial numbers and evidence pertaining to the Homeland Security investigation.
Morales, 68, was sent to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond.
The Homeland Security investigation is continuing.
