Brewster man charged with attempted murder in restaurant stabbing

BREWSTER – Authorities arrested a Brewster man on charges of attempted murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon following a stabbing outside El Pueblo Restaurant and Lounge on Main Street in Brewster.
An investigation revealed that on Sunday, October 22 Celso Cantoral-Cruz, 29, stabbed a 23-year-old Brewster resident in the abdomen outside the restaurant and fled on foot. He was located inside his Main Street residence and sent to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail or $500,000 bond.
The victim remains in critical condition at Danbury Hospital, police said.

Investigating the stabbing are State Police and the Putnam County District Attorney’s Office.
