KINGSTON – The Ulster
County District Attorney’s Office Division of Consumer Affairs is
advising residents that with autumn here, they should be alert to driveway
repair scammers.

The office cautions homeowners to be wary of businesses that solicit door-to-door
and be wary of pressure to have the work done immediately.

Homeowners should get a written estimate or contract beforehand and make
certain the paperwork has the name, address and telephone number of the
business.

The DA’s office suggested residents compare estimates and always
note license plate numbers and vehicle descriptions of businesses.

The consumer affairs office can be reached at 845-340-3260.
