Basile: “I am honored to call
Bill Larkin a friend”

ALBANY – State Senator William Larkin (R, Cornwall-on-Hudson) will turn 90 next February. The Hudson Valley’s senior statesman said he has “no plans to retire” in the foreseeable future.
But, should that change, Stony Point Town Board member and Deputy Supervisor Thomas Basile said he would like to fill Larkin’s shoes.
For now, Basile is seeking re-election to the Stony Point Town Board this fall. “Any effort on my part at this time is intended to simply lay proper foundation for a vigorous, well-funded, well-organized campaign to represent the needs of our area in the State Senate at some point in the future,” he said.
“I am honored to call Bill Larkin a friend and I am proud to support
him for as long as he is willing to serve our area and should he choose
to run for re-election, I will be right there with him as I was last year
and supporting him in his efforts,” Basile, a fellow Republican,
said.
In a statement, Larkin said he has “enjoyed a good working relationship” with Basile. “I have no plans to retire and look forward to serving the people of the 39th Senate District for the foreseeable future.”
The next election for state legislature is next November, 2018.
Basile’s bio reads that he is a small business owner and lawyer;
former Bush administration official; “best-selling author,”
Forbes contributor and SiriusXM Radio host; adjunct professor at Fordham
University; former executive director of the New York State Republican
Party; former advisor to the Coalition government in Iraq; former communications
director for the US EPA; and a joint Civilian Service Commendation Award
recipient with the US Department of Defense.
No Democratic candidate has expressed an interest in running for the 39th Senate seat at this time.
