WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers woman, who was a teller at a local bank branch, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges that she participated in the robbery of a Wells Fargo Bank branch in Yonkers on October 2013. Virginia Blanco, 28, was also charged with aiding and abetting the discharge of a firearm during the robbery.
Blanco is alleged to have conspired with Giovanni Marte to rob the bank and provided critical information to Marte that allowed him and his co-conspirators to carry out the October 29, 2013 robbery successfully.
At about 3:17 p.m., Marte and three others arrived at the bank. One co-conspirator remained in the car while Marte and two others went into the bank. Marte and one of the others brandished firearms and during the heist, Marte fired two shots but did not hit anyone.
Marte accessed the vault, filled a bag with some $303,500 in cash and fled with the other robbers.
