NEWBURGH – A San Leandro, California man was arrested by Newburgh City Police after he crashed his van into a building.
Police were called at 9 p.m. on Sunday to the area of 778 Broadway.
They found Jack Shaw, 72, who told them he had been coming from Billy Joe’s Ribworks on Front Street and was attempting to get to Hurricane Grill & Wings.
Shaw was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts of DWI as well as aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and driving with a suspended registration. Police say he was driving with a blood alcohol content of .11 percent.
