Ulster home sales continue their increase

KINGSTON – Sales of existing
single-family homes in Ulster County continued their upward climb in August,
according to the county Board of Realtors.
A total of 180 homes sold in August compared with 155 in the same month last year.
The median and average selling prices were also up; the median price rose from $213,000 in August 2016 to $215,000 this past August. The average price rose from $244,574 to $249,624, according to the organization.
The number of days a house was on the market declined from 123 to 97, an indication of the rapid pace at which homes are being sold.
The available listings were also down, from 1,076 in August 2016 to 893 this August.
Year-to-date, 1,081 homes were sold compared with 1,007 during the same period last year.
