GERMANTOWN – A Cairo man was remanded to the Columbia County Jail
without bail following his arrest for alleged illegal activity in the
Town of Germantown.
The investigation focused on an individual, later identified as Joseph
Clark, 25, of Cairo, who was allegedly distributing heroin in the southern
area of Columbia County.

Investigators from the sheriff’s Office of Drug Education and Enforcement
Unit arrested Clark after they conducted a six-week investigation that
yielded intelligence and evidence.

Clark was stopped in his vehicle on Route 9G in Germantown on September
9. Investigators executed search warrants and found some 27 grams of raw
heroin, which would make up some 700 individual doses or more with an
approximate street value of $3,000.

He was charged with felonies of criminal possession of a controlled substance
and one count with intent to sell.

The sheriff’s office was assisted in the investigation by the Columbia
County District Attorney’s Office, the Capital District Drug Enforcement
Administration and Columbia County Probation Department.
