and

PEARL RIVER – Orange and Rockland is one of several utility companies
from many parts of the country assisting residents of Florida as Irma
continues to pound the Sunshine State.   As of Sunday night,
an estimated seven million Florida residents were without power.

Over the weekend O&R released 60 contract workers, including overhead electric line technicians and tree removal specialists, so their companies could send them to Florida to prepare to restore electric service.
A total of 16 O&R workers, including overhead electric line technicians and heavy equipment operators, supervision and support personnel, teamed up with Con Edison employees to join forces to restore power to the customers of Tampa Electric Company once it is safe to work.
To assist with high outage reporting volume at the Tampa Electric Company, a computer app is now sending Florida calls to O&R customer service representatives to assist.
The O&R company crews are prepared for a two-week deployment in Florida.
