POUGHKEEPSIE – A Poughkeepsie man, who was a major heroin distributor in Dutchess County, was sentenced to 10 years in state prison and five years of post-release supervision.
Jason Brewster, 36, was apprehended on May 23 after a 15-month manhunt by state and county law enforcement. He pled guilty on August 8 to felony criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Brewster initially sold over 260 grams of heroin with a street value of more than $16,000 to a police informant. Between October 2015 and February 2016, Brewster made six sales to the informant.  He sold heroin on a regular basis from his home where children were present, and in other locations in and around Poughkeepsie, including right near the S.F.B. Morse Magnet School on Mansion Street in Poughkeepsie.
“Violent drug rings not only harm the individuals they poison with drugs – they can inflict entire communities with crime and violence,” said State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
