WHITE PLAINS – The former head bookkeeper at SECS, Inc., a Mount Vernon company that manufactures precision equipment for airlines and other industries, has been arraigned on a felony charge of grand larceny.
Sande Steelberg, 50, allegedly stole approximately $142,482 from the company by writing approximately 90 checks made payable to herself and failing to record them in the company’s books. She allegedly then cashed or deposited them into her personal bank account.
Steelberg was arrested on August 31 after a warrant was issued when she failed to surrender this past June.  Steelberg was released on her own recognizance.   If convicted, she faces up to five to 15 years in state prison.
The investigation that led to the arrest was conducted by Mount Vernon Police and the DA’s Office.
