STONY POINT – A Bronx man faces identity theft charges after trying to get cash with fake identification.
Stony Point Police were called to the Chase Bank branch on South Liberty Drive late in the afternoon when a bank employee reported a man was trying to withdraw $4,550 from a customer’s account using an apparent forged identification of an actual customer from Illinois.
Rafael Vega-Rodriguez, 53, was charged with three counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument, and one count each of identity theft and attempted grand larceny, all as felonies, as well as criminal impersonation.  Police found him in possession of a forged Illinois driver’s license and a forged American Express card in the name of the actual person from Illinois.
Vega-Rodriguez was sent to jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
