MIDDLETOWN – The 158th anniversary parade of the Middletown Fire Department will take place on Saturday, September 9 starting at 3 p.m. on Highland Avenue, Fire Chief Sam Barone announced.
The parade will consist of 15 companies from the surrounding fire districts including Long Island and Albany area. Firefighters will march from Highland Avenue to West Main Street to North Street to Wickham Avenue, with the official reviewing stand at Thrall Park.
The Grand Marshal for this year’s parade will be Chief Barone who will be retiring as fire chief at the end of the year. He is a 39-year member of the City of Middletown Fire Department and will be completing his second tour as fire chief.
The parade will also include vintage firefighting apparatus and each company will be competing for various trophies. Judging is done by the Westchester Judges Association.
This will be the last annual parade for the Middletown Fire Department. The parade will be moved to every three years going forward to honor the outgoing fire chief.
