WASHINGTON – The US Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration awarded Sullivan County $733,000 for improvements to its county airport in Bethel.
The funding, announced by Congressman John Faso (R, NY-19), will go toward the reconstruction of 24 existing airfield guidance signs, reconstruction of taxiway lighting systems, and the installation of a replacement wind cone navigational aid.
“Our airport, like all of Sullivan County, stands poised to reach its potential as never before, and the county legislature is diligent and enthusiastically working to realize that potential,” said Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez. “This funding will help modernize the Sullivan County International Airport, make it safer, and propel it closer to becoming the valued regional resource we envision it to be.”
