ALBANY – A Saugerties man was sentenced on Tuesday to 25 months in federal prison followed by one-year of supervised release for convictions of aggravated identity theft and passport fraud.
As part of his October 12, 2016 guilty plea, John Staccio, 68, admitted that in 1990 and 2011 he applied for and received a US passport using the name, date of birth, and Social Security number of another person without that person’s knowledge or consent.
Staccio used the passport and lived abroad for some 25 years years before
being arrested in 2016.
