Mayor Hamilton: “great gift today”
CITY OF HUDSON – “Hudson, we have been given a great gift
today,” Mayor Tiffany Hamilton proclaimed after Governor Andrew
Cuomo announced the city was the winner of a $10 million Downtown Revitalization
Initiative grant.
The governor made the announcement Tuesday in the recently renovated Hudson
Hall in the Hudson Opera House.
Hamilton told invited guests the funds will provide “a golden opportunity”
for access and opportunity.
“The opportunity for businesses to grow and push to the next level.
Access to jobs, access to healthy food, access to education and vocational
training opportunities, access to the river, historic parks and green
spaces; a new and improved infrastructure to provide greater, safer access
to all the assets throughout the bridge district and beyond,” she
said.
The governor also announced that no longer will there be just $10 million
grants for each of the 10 regions of the state. There will also be second-place
prizes of $5 million, third-place prizes of $2.5 million and fourth-place
winners receiving $1 million per region.
