El Galeón sailing off Texas

KINGSTON – The replica Spanish galeon El Galeón will be
docked at the Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston next weekend, but
beyond the tours of the ship, its organization is seeking volunteer crew
members to accompany them on their voyage from Kingston to Ocean City,
Maryland.

The volunteers will eat, sleep and work on the ship for several days as
she travels south along the Atlantic coast.
The crew is also seeking volunteers to sail across the Atlantic with
El Galeón on her voyage home from Ocean City to Spain. The voyage
will last roughly one month, with tentative of August 28 to September
28.

Persons wishing to participate in the east coast voyage should contact
Project Manager Fernando Viota at Fernando@fundacionnaovictoria.org.
Persons interested in the sail to Spain should fill out a request form
at www.fundacionnaovictoria.org/cross-atlantic-ocean-board-el-galeon/.

While docked in Kingston, the Hudson River Maritime Museum will be open
for extended hours on Saturday, August 5 and Sunday, August 6 from 10
a.m. to 6 p.m.

Also that weekend, the museum will offer more frequent lighthouse tours,
with tours every half hour beginning at noon with the last tour leaving
at 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $12 for children ages five through
12. Children under five are free, but each child must be accompanied by
an adult.
