MONTICELLO – A Monticello man was sentenced on Thursday in Sullivan County Court to nine to 10 ½ years in state prison on his convictions for criminal possession of a controlled substance and perjury, both as felonies.
Christopher Loadholt, 35, was convicted based on heroin seized during a warrant search of the hotel room where he was staying in Monticello and his testimony before the grand jury investigating the case.
The grand jury determined there was sufficient evidence to indict for the drug offenses as well as for having given false testimony while under oath before them.
Loadholt pled guilty before county Court Judge Frank LaBuda, who sentenced him to 7 ½ years in prison and three years of post-release supervision on the drug conviction and 1 ½ to three years in prison on the perjury conviction. And, the judge ordered the sentences run consecutively.
Loadholt was sentenced as a second felony offender.  He previously served a prison sentence on his 2007 conviction for criminal possession of a controlled substance as a felony.
“This defendant’s conduct, including his brazen attempt to corrupt the truth-seeking process after his arrest, warrant the sentence imposed in this case,” said District Attorney James Farrell. “There remains a great deal of work to be done to eliminate the clear threat posed to our community, but those who continue to peddle this poison should take notice: we will investigate, arrest, prosecute and hold you accountable and will not stop until we win the war on heroin in Sullivan County.”
