Bongiovi: “… very proud …”
PORT JERVIS – The Port Jervis School Board is going to undertake “an immediate search process” for a new superintendent, now that the board has accepted the resignation of long-time educator Thomas Bongiovi, who has been serving as superintendent.
The board and Bongiovi “agreed to mutually and amicably terminate their relationship in the best interest of the school district,” a statement read. Assistant Superintendent for Business Lorelei Case said the board “has decided to take a new direction with regards to the leadership of our district.” She did not say what that new direction would be.
Bongiovi, who served the district for 17 years, said he is “very proud of the accomplishments that have occurred in that timeframe.”
The board named Ruth Zuclich as acting superintendent. She has been an educator for over 35 years including 18 years serving in administrative capacities.
“Her knowledge of our educational structure and students will be an asset in running our district’s daily operations,” said Case. “Additionally, her guidance will be valuable as the board determines what characteristics our next superintendent of schools should possess.”
