FISHKILL – Marine Gunnery Sergeant Brendan Johnson, one of the 16 service members killed in the July 10 crash of a Stewart Marine KC-130 plane in Mississippi, will be remembered today.
There will be an escort for the officer who lived in Dutchess County, from McHoul’s Funeral Home in Fishkill to the Stewart Air National Guard Base in the Town of Newburgh where there will be a brief ceremony. Following that opportunity for fellow Marines to pay their respects, Sgt. Johnson will be escorted back to the funeral home where a wake is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
State Police said there may be intermittent road closures on Main Street in the Village of Fishkill and on Route 52. They also expressed hope that the public will come out to show their support for the fallen Marine.
