ALBANY – A former Attica state prison inmate, who is now housed in Southport Correctional Facility in Pine City, has been charged with attempted murder and other crimes related to a stabbing while he was confined in Attica Correctional Facility.
Dominick Coffer, 21, was committed to state prison in October 2014 on a conviction for criminal possession of a weapon while in the City of Poughkeepsie.  He was one of four men who were stopped in a vehicle by Dutchess Sheriff’s deputies on September 21, 2013. A loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun reported stolen from North Carolina was found in his possession.
Coffer allegedly attacked another inmate at Attica on April 22. The victim suffered several stab wounds and was hospitalized.
Coffer was also charged with felony assault, criminal possession of a weapon and promoting prison contraband, all as felonies.
