RAMAPO – Town of Ramapo Police issued 20 summonses and 12 warnings on Friday as it conducted a pedestrian safety detail. The crackdown was part of the town’s effort to reduce pedestrian injuries and fatalities resulting from motor vehicle crashes.
During the detail, officers patrolled areas of the town in which there are large concentrations of pedestrians on the roadway.
Police issued 20 summonses and 12 warnings; 19 of the summonses were issued to pedestrians and one was issued to a motorist.
The detail was a “zero tolerance” investigation and warnings were only issued to violators under the age of 16.
