Man shot in Monticello

MONTICELLO – Monticello Police are investigating the shooting of a 54-year-old Monticello man which occurred at 9:55 PM Sunday, July 2.
A Monticello police officer who was on patrol and investigating an unrelated complaint observed the victim lying near the front entrance of the Stewart’s convenience store on Forestburg Road in the village.  The victim had been shot multiple times on a pathway between the Stewart’s store and the Evergreen Drive housing complex. 
Despite being shot, the victim was able make his way to the front of the store before collapsing. The victim was transported first to CRMC then to ORMC where he is in critical condition.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Monticello Police in confidence at 845-794-4422.
Assisting in the investigation are State Police and the Sullivan County District Attorney Office.  Assisting at the scene were the Monticello Fire Dept. and Sullivan County Sheriff Office.
