Simpson
TOWN OF WARWICK – Police arrested a Maybrook man in connection with two burglaries in the Town of Warwick, both on May 2. It was a ring on Michael Simpson’s hand that wound up fingering him.
One burglary was at a home on Glenwood Road in Pine Island and the other on East Ridge Road in the Town of Warwick.
In both cases, tools were used to force entry into the residences where jewelry and cash were stolen.
During the investigation, Warwick detectives located several stolen items at a jewelry exchange in Rockland County.
On Wednesday, June 14, Warwick police and members of US Parole contacted Simpson, 34, at his Maybrook home and brought him to the Warwick police station for questioning.
During the interview, officers noted he was wearing a ring similar to one reported stolen in one of the burglaries. The victim was contacted and positively identified the ring as belonging to him.
As a result, Simpson was charged with two felony counts of burglary and one misdemeanor count of criminal possession of stolen property. He was sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail.
