Man killed himself in front of police officer

STONY POINT – The state parks department confirmed on Tuesday that the man who died of a gunshot in Stony Point on Monday, in fact, killed himself.
The victim, who police did not immediately identify, told a responding state park police officer that he was going to kill himself at a church on St. John’s Road in Stony Point.
With the officer present, the man committed suicide, the spokesman said.
