Yvonne Torch – 13th anniversary of her death
MIDDLE HOPE – Friday marked the 13th anniversary of the murder of Yvonne Torch in her Route 9W, Middle Hope hair salon. To date, no one has been arrested in the case.
State Police Sr. Investigator-in-charge Neal Moscato said they have followed up on over 400 leads with no success.
“Based on what I know about this case without divulging too many secrets, I believe this was not a random act; this was someone that knew her,” Moscato said. “I don’t want to say it was a crime of passion, but it was of that nature. It was someone that knew her so I don’t think that these other leads we look at in other areas didn’t pan out.”
Moscato hopes that with advances in DNA testing and other technology, and continued following of leads, they will catch the killer of the 31-year-old woman back on June 9, 2004.
Torch was working at her salon on that morning when a customer came in for an appointment and found her dead.
