Attorney charged with third case of inappropriate contact with client

POUGHKEEPSIE – A Poughkeepsie attorney is charged in a third case of alleged inappropriate contact with a client.
Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Captain John Watterson said on Friday that Wayne Thatcher, 63, was charged with felony sexual abuse after a person came forward with information about an incident that allegedly occurred on the Town of Poughkeepsie.
As a result, Thatcher was sent to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.
Watterson said seven people have come forward with information about incidents allegedly involving Thatcher.
Thatcher was first arrested on May 18 following an investigation into inappropriate sexual contact with a client. On June 2, he was charge with forcible touching after a second person came forward. Thatcher was arraigned and posted bail.
Watterson said anyone with information about these cases or similar incident involving Thatcher is urged to contact the sheriff’s office Detective Bureau at 845-486-3829 and ask for Det. Harris.
