Driver charged with manslaughter in car crash deaths

NEW CITY – A Nanuet man was charged on Monday with two counts of
vehicular manslaughter and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by
drugs in connection with the Sunday afternoon crash on Route 304 at the
intersection of Goebel Road in which a couple was killed.

Clarkstown Police said Matthew Sindone, 23, allegedly passed a steady
red light on Route 304 at the intersection while impaired by a controlled
substance.

Killed in the crash were Neil Block, 69, and his wife, Aline Block, 68,
both of New City.

Sindone was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor
vehicle, and passing a red light.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Rockland County Jail in lieu of $750,000
bail.
