Kingston man indicted in fatal Orange County crash

GOSHEN – An Orange County grand jury indicted a Kingston man in the death of a passenger in his pickup truck which slammed into a tree in the Town of Newburgh.
Detrell Pittman, 37, also of Kingston, was killed in the December 22, 2016 crash on Quaker Street.
James Black, 29, was indicted on charges of vehicular manslaughter, manslaughter, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Black allegedly was speeding and under the combined influence of both alcohol and marijuana at the time of the collision.  The indictment also alleged that his blood alcohol content was .19 percent, more than twice the legal limit.
Black, who also suffered injuries, was not immediately arrested and the crash was investigated by the Newburgh Town Police and the grand jury.
Black was arrested Friday on a warrant. He is in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $200,000 cash or $600,000 bond.
