NEWBURGH – Orange County Legislator Curlie Dillard, who represents a portion of the City of Newburgh, will not seek re-election this November.
The Democratic lawmaker has mixed emotions about his decision, but he will not run based on doctors’ orders.
“There is so much to be done in the county and I was a part of that, so by me not being able to run because of sickness, I will continue to tune in, but I cannot run,” Dillard said.
Being mentioned as possible Democratic candidates for that legislative
seat are community activist Omari Shakur, former Newburgh City Councilwoman
Gay Lee, and Kevindaryan Lujan, a member of Community Voices Heard.
