Man charged with committing two store robberies

POUGHKEEPSIE – Police in the City of Poughkeepsie have arrested a local man and charged him with committing two store robberies in May.
Wayne Franklin, 32, was charged with two counts of felony robbery as well as misdemeanor criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested on Wednesday, May 17 following an investigation.             
The first robbery occurred around 9:21 p.m. when a man walked into a store at 75 Garden Street, placed a handkerchief over his mouth, put his hand in a pocket as if he had a gun and demanded money. He fled after getting cash.
On May 11 at 5:24 p.m., the man entered La Deliziosa at 10 Mount Carmel Place, pulled a mask over his face, put his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun and demanded money from the clerk. He fled on foot after receiving cash from the employee.
Franklin was charged with committing both crimes and is in the Dutchess County Jail without bail.
