Port Ewen man arrested following home break-in

TOWN OF ULSTER – A Port
Ewen man has been arrested following an investigation into a residential
burglary at a home on Route 213 in the Town of Ulster hamlet of Eddyville.

Ulster Police arrested Luis Colon, 35, just before 9 p.m. on May 2. When
he broke in, he damaged property in the residence.

Police responded to a 911 call of a dispute in progress that was occurring
in front of a residence. Investigation determined Colon has gained entry
into an unoccupied apartment and was discovered there when the residents
returned home, resulting in a tussle between the parties. A passerby heard
the ensuing dispute and called 911.

The resident sustained a minor injury during the dispute that did not
require medical treatment.

Colon was arrested because he had allegedly removed property from the
apartment. He was charged with felony burglary and misdemeanors of criminal
mischief and petit larceny as well as a violation of harassment.

He was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000
cash bail or $10,000 bond pending a future court appearance.
