Fire damages building at former Hudson River Psych Center

Cause of the fire is unknown

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE – Fire damaged the interior of a vacant building
at the former Hudson River Psychiatric Center in the Town of Poughkeepsie
Thursday morning.

The fire was called in to the Fairview Fire Department at around 6 a.m.
and was knocked down around 8:30.
The cause is unknown and under investigation by the cause and origin
team.

Several area fire departments assisted in the firefighting operations
including Poughkeepsie, Roosevelt and New Hamburg with Mobile Life Support
Services ambulance and Town of Poughkeepsie Police also on the scene.

Fairview Fire Chief Chris Maeder said over 1 million gallons of water
were used to extinguish the blaze.
