Eighteen arrested, 2.5 kilos of heroin seized, in major Westchester busts

WHITE PLAINS – Westchester
County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced the arrests of
18 people on felony complaints after their arrests in connection with
street level heroin sales in the Town of Greenburgh and City of White
Plains.

They were all charged with criminal sale and possession of a controlled
substance and conspiracy, all as felonies.

Scarpino said many of the defendants were selling heroin to 25 customers
or more, some on a daily basis.

Seized during the arrests were two loaded handguns, 2.5 kilos of heroin
with a street value of $1.5 million and over $100,000 in cash.

The DA said some of those arrested were long-time drug dealers with lengthy
felony records.

Participating in the operation were police in White Plains, Greenburgh,
Yonkers and Port Chester, the Westchester County Department of Public
Safety and the FBI Safe Street Task Force.

Scarpino released the names of 11 of those arrested:

• Willie James Edwards, 51, of White Plains
• Otto Armstrong, Sr., 60, of White Plains
• Byron Gaynor, 49, of White Plains
• Alonzo Thompson, 57, of Port Chester
• George Jamison, 47, of White Plains
• Leon Richardson, 62, of White Plains
• Francis Brooks, 57, of Elmsford
• Daryl Kyle, 63, of White Plains
• Clifton Monk, 54, of White Plains
• Bernard Pease, 59, of White Plains
• Dwane Stennett, 56, of Yonkers.
