Middletown man arrested following crash with stolen truck

Stolen pickup

TOWN OF THOMPSON – A pickup truck that had been left running and was stolen while the owner went into a gas station off Route 17 at exit 118 in Fair Oaks, was involved in an auto crash some two hours later.
The accident occurred on Old Liberty Road in the vicinity of the Hidden Ridge subdivision in the Town of Thompson.
Sullivan County Sheriff’s deputies investigated and found an SUV and pickup had collided resulting in minor injuries to both drivers, who were taken to Catskill Regional Medical Center where they were treated and released.         
During the investigation, it was learned that the pickup had been stolen at the gas station in the Town of Wallkill. At the time of the crash, Marquis Hunter, 28, of Middletown, was driving with a suspended driver’s license. He was charged with felony criminal possession of stolen property and several vehicle and traffic violations.  Hunter was sent to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $45,000 bail.      
The sheriff’s patrol was assisted at the scene by the Monticello Fire Department and Mobile Medic Ambulance. NYSEG responded to the scene to replace utility poles that had been damaged from the accident.
