MIDDLETOWN – Outdoor music
may become a popular addition to outside dining in the Middletown. The
common council may take up the subject following community discussions
about it.
Mayor Joseph DeStefano has issues with the idea.

“I have voiced my concerns to the council regarding a lot of concerns
that I have that if it is not done right how it could be damaging to the
revitalization, but it appears that they have some support,” he
said.
The mayor wants to protect the business owners and residents of the city,
noting noise from the nearby raceway in the Town of Wallkill.

He noted if approved, the law would need enforcement teeth for the police
department.

If the common council decides to take up the issue, restaurateurs would
hope it could be implemented in time to capture the summer season diners.
