ALBANY – Calling Belleayre Mountain is “a jewel of the Catskills,” Assemblyman Kevin Cahill (D, Kingston) announced that the state-owned ski resort will receive $8.5 million in the state budget for upgrades.
Cahill and Senator James Seward (R, Oneonta) fought for the funding that Cahill said will help restore and enhance its facilities.
This marks the fifth year that Cahill pushed for funding to ensure that Belleayre receives its “fair share” of resources allocated to the Olympic Regional Development Authority, which operates the center. The Department of Environmental Conservation transferred control of Belleayre Ski Center to ORDA in 2012.
