POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office has arrested
a Poughkeepsie man on a charge of welfare fraud.

It is alleged that Michael McGinness, 41, received approximately $35,527
in SNAP benefits between February 2009 and September 2014. He is accused
of stealing the food stamp benefits by concealing the fact that he had
other outside income, something that would have made him ineligible for
them.

McGinness was charged with the felony of welfare fraud and was released
on his own recognizance pending a future court appearance.
