POUGHKEEPSIE – The new Dutchess County commissioner of Behavioral and Community Health is expected to be approved by the county legislature without any problems this coming week.
County Executive Marcus Molinaro selected Dr. Anil Vaidian to head the
department and he appears to have the full support of lawmakers.
Legislator Angela Flesland was on the screening committee.
“His demeanor in the interview, his thoughtfulness in the way he answered the questions and his resume is really a perfect with what Dutchess County is looking for,” Flesland said.
The Family and Human Services Committee of the legislature has already given its blessings to Dr. Vaidian’s appointment.
The position comes with a county residency requirement. Vaidian lives over the line in Putnam County, but Dutchess officials do not see any problem with granting him a waiver.
