Missing Cortlandt man found dead

MOHEGAN LAKE – A Cortlandt man, who was last seen on January 26,
was found dead in a field off Lexington Avenue Mohegan Lake on Monday,
February 27.

State Police were able to identify the missing man, Joseph Sharpe, 59,
as the victim.

Police said his death does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

An autopsy was performed on February 28 by Dr. Virginia Richards of the
Westchester County Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause and manner
of death are pending toxicology reports.

At the time he disappeared from home, police said he suffered from mental
illness and may have been in need of medication.
