NEW YORK – The former property
manager of Harriet Tubman Terrace Apartments, a Section 8 housing complex
in the City of Poughkeepsie, was sentenced in federal court on Monday
to 18 months in prison.
From about December 2010 to about March 2015, Carl Immich, 54, of Rhinebeck,
was the property manager for a management company for which he was the
principal amd sole owner. In that capacity, he served as the management
agent and property manger of Tubman Terrace since about 2009.
Immich was charged with fraudulently obtaining at least $150,000 of federal Housing and Urban Development funds from the operating account of the complex. He stole the money by using credit cards for the business expenses instead for personal use; he obtained check payments from the Tubman Terrace operating bank account to cover other personal expenses; and he obtained payroll checks for himself and his daughter reflecting no work or other entitlement by them to any salary.
In addition to prison time, Immich was sentenced to three years of supervised release and ordered to pay $150,001 in restitution.
