POUGHKEEPSIE – The Dutchess County Airport terminal will get a more than $1 million facelift.  The county legislature this coming week is expected to approve just under $99,000 toward the total cost of the $1,087,000 project. The state will pick up the remaining $988,500.
The renovation project includes building envelope deficiencies and building code deficiencies, replacement of the terminal facade, installation of an elevator to provide accessibility to the second floor, replacement of leaking and energy inefficient windows and doors, improvements to bathroom facilities and main entry automatic doors, preparation of space for a café and improvements to terminal signage.
The funding request comes a month after the county decided to change the name of the Wappinger airport to Hudson Valley Airport in an effort to attract more regional recognition and business.
The airport handles corporate and recreational aviation activities, but has no commercial airline service.
